Manchester city and Ivory Coast midfield maestro Yaya Toure says he does not get the recognition he deserves and is not regarded as one of the best players in the world. The midfielder who has 22 goals for city in all competitions this season affirmed what his collegue Samir Nasri said recently that Toure would have been celebrated as one of the best players in the world were he not african. In an interview with the football focus for the BBC he said: "I think what Samir said was true. To be honest, proper recognition comes only from the fans. I don't want to be hard and I don't want to be negative but I want to be honest" The ivorians is also unhappy that top players like Messi and Ronaldo are recognised while players like him are not. "If you go to any part of Africa, people will say yes we know him (Messi) but when you come to Europe and say Yaya Toure, people would say who is that? Some will
say they know my name but not my face but they know Messi's face". He later added that: "I am proud to be African I want to defend African people I want to show that African players are as good as the Europeans and South Americans". Is Yaya Toure right after all? I for one, personally think he is!
