MANCHESTER - Ryan Giggs admitted his Manchester
United side lacked the 'quality' to break
down Sunderland as Gus Poyet's side
became the eighth to win at Old
Trafford this season.
United had 63 per cent of the
possession and 17 shots, but only
managed two on target as Seb
Larsson's first-half goal proved the
difference between the teams.
And the interim manager agreed his
team did not create enough chances to win.
Giggs said: "Just that lack of quality in the final third.
"First half we got some decent crosses
in, and just didn't get enough people in the box.
"Second half we had all the possession
and just couldn't find that key pass or
bit of quality to get us back in the game.
"I am sure if we scored one we would
have gone on to score more. Lack of
quality and lack of concentration in the
final third.
"I still believe there is quality in the dressing room.
"We showed that last week but just didn't this week.
"Whether it be a lack of confidence or
concentration, like I say, I don't know.
"We have shown good form away from
home but at Old Trafford seems to have
been a problem.
"In past seasons, even today, there
would be waves and waves of shots and
saves and you could always sense a
goal was coming but this season it
doesn't seem to have happened."
