Arsenal in strong position for Top four finish as they ease past Newcastle

Arsenal are on the brink of another Top four finish this Season as they swept Newcastle aside 3-0 at the Emirates last night. The North London side opened scoring in the 26th minute when centre back Laurent Koscielny prodded home from a Santi Carzola's set-peice. Mesut Ozil, who had been out injured banged a second with an easy tap-in from close range just before half time. The German who is now regaining his top form provided an assist for the third in the second half with a perfect inch cross to Olivier Giroud to head in the final goal. The Gunners are now back in form as there is now 'oil in the engine' due to the comeback of midfield maestro Aaron Ramsey and playmaker Mesut Ozil and one could wonder that Arsenal would have been in the title race if these two were not out injured. There is now a feel good factor at The Emirates as Arsenal have their
grip on fourth place and are four points above Everton with just two games to go. Heck, the F A cup final is just some weeks away and it could really be a good season for them as they look to end their nine year trophy drought. Arsene Wenger, who was very delighted had this to say after the game: "We had a slow and cautious start and progressively became stronger. After 20 minutes it was a good performance.
"Mesut Ozil is getting stronger in every game
now. He is refreshed. Over Christmas he suffered physically. Now he looks physically sharp.
"The first season is always adaptation in the
Premier League. But he has fantastic technique and passing. His assists and passes in the final third are excellent. We want some more goals from him - but that will come.
"We have come through a difficult period but the spirit in the side is healthy and strong and you see that when a team can bounce back after a big disappointment."
